Nutritional Counseling |

| Nutrition is the foundation for health. Our bodies are made out of what we eat. We have some cells in the body that are replaced once or twice a week! We have a new blood supply every three to four months, with cells constantly being replaced by the minute. It is interesting that in animal husbandry nutrition plays a major role in raising livestock and pets, and animals are judged by their health at county and state fair competitions and cat and dog shows. The standard American diet(S.A.D.) prevalent today is a far cry from the way people were eating only a hundred years ago. It is a great unconscious experiment, with 25% of the U.S. population eating at a fast food restaurant on any given day. Childhood is now wracked with diseases unheard of in children only a generation ago: rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, autism, attention-deficit-hyperactivity, obesity, and even cancer, are commonplace among American children. The average child consumes colas and soda/pop instead of fruit juice, munches on candy and chemical-laden devitalized processed cereals, and many never eat fruits and vegetables, save greasy hydrogenated french fries. As Dr. Weston Price predicted sixty years ago, as the quality of nutrition declines, the increase in crime will follow. We now have an epidemic of childhood crime, including elementary and high school shootings, unknown just a few years ago. The brain and body cannot function properly without sufficient nutrients. Dr. Winer is one of the early pioneers in championing good nutrition. For over thirty years he has been teaching good health through good nutrition, both at the university level and as a researcher at a nutrition foundation and counselor and educator at Hippocrates Health Institute in San Diego, California. Thousands of people have had their health immeasurably benefitted through his counseling. His approach is both practical and individualized to the needs, requirements, lifestyle and work constraints of each individual patient. We do not recommend fad diets or fad products. We take into account possible food allergies and sensitivities(and can test for them), knowing that one man's or woman's "meat" is another's "poison." There are some basic guidelines for good eating, including avoiding junk food, synthetic "food," sugar, colas, and hydrogenated fats, while eating fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains, and consuming pure water and juices. But with Dr. Winer's vast experience he can guide the patient safely and conveniently to better health. Occasionally nutritional, herbal, or homeopathic supplements will be suggested to aid in restoring health by providing the body with substances that will help it to heal. You can rest assured that any recommendations are not cookie-cutter recipes, but rather specific suggestions found to be exactly right for you. |
